Commissioner Gordon lying on the hospital bed, pleading with Bruce to return as Batman is interesting, but not as exciting as the reveal of Bane. I’ve been nervous about how Bane was going to be portrayed on screen, as he has the potential to be a super cheesy looking character. All looks good to me so far though. We get a close up of Bane’s face, and a quick shot of Batman, looking a little shaken, getting ready to lay some fist into the beasts masked face.

This is just a teaser, so while there is not a whole lot here, I’m satisfied. We are still a year away from the film. Patience is a virtue.

It doesn't get released to theaters till next summer, but it's never too early to start wondering if "The Dark Knight Rises" can get nominated for best picture of 2012 at the Oscars.

It's still a hot topic after director Christopher Nolan's last installment in the franchise, "The Dark Knight" (2008), failed to get that top nod. It was nominated for eight Academy Awards and won two -- supporting actor (Heath Ledger) and sound mixing -- but it wasn't up for best picture. Outrage over that snub grew so loud that the academy revamped the face of the race in 2009, increasing the list to 10 nominees from the usual five so there could be more room for blockbusters to get in. Last year, Nolan's "Inception" got nominated, but the director's branch snubbed him just as it had for "The Dark Knight." Curiously, by comparison, he's apparently beloved by the writer's branch. Twice he was nominated for best screenplay: "Inception" and "Memento" (2000).

At this point, of course, there's no telling what the 2012 Oscar best-picture race will look like or even how many contenders it will include. At the next derby, there will be a flexible number of best-picture nominees depending on how many reap 5% or more of the vote. But "The Dark Knight Rises" looks promising. It brings back Christian Bale as Batman and Michael Caine as his wise, protective, sidekick butler. Anne Hathaway as Catwoman claws her way into the action.

Unlike the production phase, we discovered that not everyone in our midst was up to the challenge. A few people we hired lacked the skill, drive, and determination to deliver. Some, I recommend, should seek a different career path altogether. Of course this has happened to me before. Nine times out of ten, the visual effects in smaller films underwhelm. Usually, you just do your best to cut around them, make them darker, and accept the fact that the business trumps the artistic integrity of an independent film. But that old attitude wasn't good enough. We went back and redid 90% of the visual effects. In fact, both videos floating around the internet feature these old effects.

We've given ourselves deadlines numerous times to finish the project. Yet, when we reach them and the film isn't 100% the way we want it, we ask ourselves "why"? Why put out something that you know isn't the best that it can be? We've come this far, why not go all the way?

That explains why the film isn't ready for release. While the two part version is a great mini-series or made for TV event, the theatrical version is the type of film that builds life long fans and warrants repeat viewing. It's just too on the money to not let people see it. And we will release it when we know it's right.

Oz is far too important to too many people to not give it the respect and the reverence that it deserves. People have worked too hard to see their labor and artistry not receive the praise that it deserves. The challenge to making a great movie is insuring that the sum is equal to the greatness of its parts. That takes a lot of time and a lot of detailed work.

There is a saying in Hollywood. Fast, cheap, good….pick two. We've made a movie that hangs with studio releases for a fraction of the cost. That means we can either make it fast or good. We choose good.

This is also the first film I've made that had enough interest to warrant speculation and rumors. Let me clear those up. The film is not a musical. Yes, there are two versions of the film and both will be available. Yes, we will be putting the film into theaters. No, it won't be on February 18th. And as for a sequel…well, I can't rely confirm or deny that at this point...

So there you have the update. It's a story of courage, heart, brains and realizing that you have all the skills and tools you need inside as long as you believe in yourself.

Leigh Scott (writer, director and producer) of The Witches of Oz has posted a note on Facebook detailing the current status of production.

"... During the shoot, we allowed the film to grow to meet the material. We followed our hearts instead of our wallets. The entire time, we all knew we were making something special.

In order to compensate for the expanding budget, we entered into a distribution agreement and made the decision to turn the film into a two part mini-series. We had already spent enough for two movies, and the first cut was over three hours long.

Hope Solo Nipp PHOTOS - it's a tale of two photos. One photo -- displayed on the front page of ESPN.com last night -- varied from another photo, the original version, taken for and distributed by Getty Images (which you're lookin' here on this very page). One thing from the real photo was suspiciously missing from the ESPN version? Solo's erect nipple. Seems like someone over at ESPN was potentially trying to make the pic slightly more G-rated with PhotoShop.

A'course, there's also the argument that the sports site may have tweaked the contrast ever so slightly, and that somehow unwittingly did away with the not-quite-a-nip-slip. I'm more apt to believe that it was a conscious effort on ESPN's part to "smooth over," manipulate, gloss-ify -- however you want to put it -- the original photograph.

Sports may be entertainment, but a snap of a moment like that, between these two big name women's soccer stars on the world stage, shouldn't be PhotoShopped as if it were a shot of, say, Kim Kardashian strutting down a Beverly Hills boulevard on her way to a dress fitting. Because sorry, whether you like it or not, that's how Hope Solo looked that night. It was what it was!

Not to mention that the idea of a woman's CLOTHED erect nipple being a big bad eyesore or "issue" is a whole different story. Why are we so friggin' uptight about such a silly little thing? It's the human body. It's a real live woman. Oh noes!

The bottom line: Sports photojournalism should fall under the same category as news photojournalism. The aim should be to capture the TRUTH, regardless of whether it's potentially, slightly embarrassing and raw.

Hope Solo has made quite the impression on America. Hope Solo become a household name, everyone's new fave female athlete, and even a possible contender for Dancing With the Stars. But have you heard?? Her squeaky-clean name might be tarnished by a Janet Jackson-like incident that occurred last week! Oh yeah. Or so you'd think given all the hullabaloo surrounding one innocuous image of Solo with fellow hero Abby Wambach after the match against Brazil.
